People of the Qun unite! Dragon Age III: Inquisition was announced today!
Get ready Grey Wardens, Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah announced today that a third Dragon Age will be arriving sometime next year.
Mark gives us a short list of what he can reveal about Dragon Age III: Inquisition:
The next game will be called Dragon Age III: Inquisition.
We won’t be talking about the story of the game today. Though you can make some guesses from the title.
This game is being made by a lot of the same team that has been working on Dragon Age since Dragon Age: Origins. It’s composed of both experienced BioWare veterans and talented new developers.
We are working on a new engine which we believe will allow us to deliver a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization.
At PAX East, we talked about armor and followers… Yeah, that kind of customization. We’ve started with Frostbite 2 from DICE as a foundation to accomplish this.
BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka has also noted that Inquisition will have a more open-world focus (taking a much-needed cue from Skyrim).
Dragon Age III: Inquisition will take place in Thedas (like the previous games), and will apparently cover more territory than its predecessors. Hints also suggest that Orlais, the land of French snobbery and the lovely Liliana, might be a key location.
Creative director Mike Laidlaw has also revealed that the plot of Inquisition will deal with the massive civil war between mages and templars.
And most importantly, you will play as a new, voiced protagonist – hurray for dialogue wheels and some of the most amazing conversations ever had in gaming!
Do you think BioWare will deliver a serviceable RPG after the disappointment with Dragon Age: II and the Mass Effect 3 games? What does the new Dragon Age HAVE to have? Let us know in the comments below! Stay tuned to Pure Sophistry for more news on upcoming videogames.
In the meantime let us take you for a stroll down memory lane…remember Hawke’s father? YOU WILL NOW!
