I’ve never been to Japan, but I’d like to imagine that it is ruled by Pokemon. Like maybe there are Pokemon Centers everywhere that serve no purpose other than to look at, Magnemites power the city and Lemonade cost about as much as one weeks pay.

Unfortunately, I don’t think it really works that way but what Pokemon does seem to dominate over in Japan is sales. Pokemon Black and White 2 were Japan’s 2012 best selling games according to a report by Siliconera and based on data from 4Gamer. The games sold 2.9 million units, and the 3DS was the dominating platform with 5 games on the top 10 games and half on the top 30.

This is a good time, if ever, to point out how terrible Sony’s platforms have done. Only 8 games on the PS3 made it on the top 30 with Capcom’s  ranking 5th with 883,000 sold. On top of that, the PS Vita, in its first full on-sale in the country, did not even register into the top 30 best-selling games.
