If someone asked me to name what I thought the best video game series of the new generation was, my answer would have to be the Assassin’s Creed franchise. So, I am of course happy to hear that the there will be a new Assassin’s Creed game with a new protagonist coming out sometime in 2014.
Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemont revealed the news during the company’s third-quarter earning calls. The title is expected to launch during Ubisoft’s fiscal 2014, which spans from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014.
“We are delighted and proud to announce today that in financial year ’14, we will introduce an all-new Assassin’s Creed hero, within an all new team and time period, and we expect it to be another major leap forward for the franchise. It is the benefit of multiple teams, working on multiple chapters of the product, each getting several years to make their versions of an Assassin’s Creed game,” said Guillemot.
Assassin’s Creed 3’s ending no doubtfully left some people scratching their heads, so it only makes since that the series would continue onwards. That, and it is Ubisoft’s best selling franchise, so I doubt is was going anywhere anytime soon. I’m always up for getting my free-running/stealth game play fix and I’m interested where they will take the series from here.
