Making a Temple Run style game with Sonic in it seems like a pretty good idea, and Sega seems to think so too.

Rumors of the idea started to emerge earlier this week when the title was mentioned on Linkedln listing (which have been removed) from Sega’s UK based studio Hardlight.

Now though, Sega has confirmed the existence of the newest game called Sonic Dash on Kotaku.

“At this time, Sega is able to confirm that we are working on a new mobile game titled Sonic Dash. We have not announced any specific details on the product but we will be releasing additional information on this exciting, new game in the near future.”

This wouldn’t be Sonic’s first outing on a smartphone based device. Both episodes of Sonic 4 were released for iOS and Android as well as a game with a similar name and concept as the game mentioned above called Sonic Jump.

I feel like Sonic has been making a bit of comeback lately and there is no better way to become relevant again then being a free game that hundreds of teenagers can play while they pretend to do work at school.
