CD Projekt Red officially launched an open beta for their new mod kit for the Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings called the Red Kit. It is free to download and requires a copy of the PC version of The Witcher 2, which must be patched up to version 3.3.
“New adventures created by our community are just few clicks away,” reads an official announcement. “Witness the creativity of fellow RPG fans and enhance your Witcher 2 experience with new, user-created content.
“If you are an avid fan of RPGs you will definitely love the REDkit, since your imagination is the only limit when creating non-linear adventures set in a dark fantasy world of The Witcher.”
“The editor allows modders to create adventures in the world of Geralt of Rivia,” the studio previously explained. “REDkit gives players the power to create detailed environments and complex, nonlinear quests as they tell their own Witcher story.”
CD Projekt Red also discussed a number of issues with the kit.
“Currently, cooking changes to original Witcher 2 story create rather sizable files. We are aware of this issue and are working on it to change cooking process so the files will be smaller,” the developer explained.
There is currently no way to create a lipsync for written dialogues. CD Projekt Red are working on a patch and will be available “pretty soon.”
