So, has everyone given up on getting a good video game based on the Alien franchise yet? I don’t blame you if you have. After Aliens: Colonial Marines and even another Alien VS Predator game on IOS, it isn’t hard to imagine losing hope on an actual decent game based off one of the most iconic horror movies of all time. There is hope though, and it comes in the form of a game company called Creative Assembly and their game, Alien: Isolation.
Design lead Clive Lindop talked with Video Gamer and explained that they plan to go full survival horror with this game, “where surviving was victory, [where surviving] was the objective.”
The game is set 15 years after the original movie, with Ellen Ripley’s daughter Amanda fighting to survive aboard the Sevastopol against a lone Xenomorph.
Lindop said that when it comes to capturing the essence of true survival horror, there is no better franchise than Alien.
“Alien is the grandaddy of all of that,” he says. “It is the template for survival horror. And so when you’re working with the original material, it’s more frequent that you see its influence in other games and films rather than the other way around.
“When we saw a lot of the fan base talking about [the ideal Alien] game, it was funny that we were sat here focusing on exactly that.”
